I don't know why the 360 would need a blu-ray player if they aren't going to make games in that format. Just buy a stand alone player if you want to or the ps3.

I think I heard about some game coming up or some game they wanted to make that would be on like 3-4 discs or something, but on blu ray it would be 1-2 discs.

I already have enough Blu-ray players (PS3, and PC)...but I think Ballmer is right about the "On Demand" stuff. It will eventually take over the movie distribution market, buts its gonna be a long long time before we see that happening (if it ever happens). To achieve that goal..."Disc" based movies will have to be basically extinct, and I highly doubt that will ever happen.

I believe that game is Rage. And Microsoft will make a Blu Ray player for the 360 just like they made an HD DVD player. They see dollar signs. The Blu Ray player for the 360 will more than likely be cheaper than a good stand alone Blu Ray player. Microsoft made the HD DVD player attachment because they thought everyone would be watching HD DVDs, but now that they aren't you don't see the HD DVD player for the 360 in stores anymore. if you do happen to find it it will not be more than 40 or 50 bucks. Microsoft sees dollar signs in a Blu Ray player attachment, that's all.

MS needs to keep focusing on digital downloads as they will take over physical media, most likely within ten years. Look what mp3's did to cds. The same will happen in gaming and movies no doubt (if not streaming options will own).

its a sign of the times. and with the advent of terabyte drives and even faster net connections, it enables this as a feasible option.
