Does a game's achievements affect your decision to buy?

    Post  ImpureKing44 on Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:38 pm

For the most part yes it does. If I can not get AT LEAST 500/1000 GS from the offline component, it won't make it's way into my home.

I have fun with a game's achievements as I see them as a minigame to the main game itself, like a bonus game using the game ur playing. If I have to do online MP to get more then 500 GS im not down for it, I dont like online MP in most games...

Unless a game is a MUST HAVE...like a crackdown or army of two kind of game.

Side note, for arcade, if I cant get 100/200 minimum, same rules apply

Nope, not at all. If it's a fun game to play I'll buy it. I'm not one that really cares about GS. It's fun to try to get difficult achievements and all, but achievements do not affect my decisions to buy a game.

well...it sorta affects my decision. i usually get games based on if they look good, have good gameplay, and i can play em w/ friends and have loads of fun for months to come (like halo 3 and gow2) and if they have easy achievements thats even better. i mean, i like ones where i can get 500 easily, but if i cant then oh well...gives me something to strive for

Never... I buy games for the games... nothing else influences that decision except maybe peer reviews etc.

You couldn't PAY me to play 50 Cent...

But yes... reviews such as those...

Stupid question: Can any community member write a game review or is it only staff and if so, would you be willing to allow a 'second opinion' by members and or staff?

Nah achievements really don't mean much to me, I like to get them but it's not like I need them to play a game.

Pretty much sums up my sentiments on the subject aswell.

If I really enjoy a game I will go out of my way to earn the extra achivements. If not just to justify a reason to play through the game again. Smile
